Condition Based Service

Condition Based Service [CBS]

Newer BMW models feature a technology at the forefront of service innovation called the Condition Based Service (CBS) system, which ensures your BMW only receives attention when it needs it- saving you time and money. CBS sensors monitor the condition of parts such as Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Microfilter(s) and Brakes- as well as all operating Fluids.

The CBS offers the following benefits:

* The remaining distance and / or absolute service-due date are calculated and shown separately.
* This calculation includes an integrated interval forecast, which reflects your driving profile.
* With flexible service intervals (Engine Oil & Filter, Microfilter, front and rear Brakes), the last service interval is taken as the new starting value.

The instrument cluster will send the sorted data to the Central Information Display (CID). There, the data can be selected for display in the Vehicle Service menu using the iDrive, which will alert to you what areas of the vehicle need attention via the following symbols:

BMW has provided step-by-step instructions on how to access the Vehicle Service Menu in your Owner’s Manual, which can be found at their website by clicking and entering your Vehicle Identification Number here.

At every visit to our facility, we will perform the following:

• Check Indicator and Warning Lights on Instrument Cluster
• Check and verify any Control messages
• Reset CBS display

CBS Vehicle Check Icon

Check condition of vehicle systems including:

• Remove protective exterior Paneling to inspect under-body for corrosion and damage
• Tires, steering and Shock Absorbers
• Electrical systems including Battery, Headlights and Indication Field Lighting
• Safety including inspection of Brakes and Seat Belts
• Coolant and Fluid levels & condition

CBS Engine Oil Icon

• Change Engine Oil and replace Filter
• Check and set Tire pressures
• Every third Oil change: replace Air Filter and Fuel Filter (if diesel)

Frequent Oil changes can increase the longevity of the internal Engine parts. Replacement of Filters can reduce fuel consumption.

CBS Microfilter Icon

• Replace Microfilter in Heating/Air Conditioning system to prevent pollen or dust entering through the vents

Microfilters trap 80% of pollen and traffic fumes maintaining a pleasant passenger environment; they also ensure fast defrosting in winter.

CBS Brake Fluid Icon

• Replace Brake Fluid every two years: Brake Fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture), and its performance deteriorates over time

Replacement of Brake Fluid reduces corrosion of ABS components and steel Pistons as well as maintains Braking Performance, reducing the likelihood your brakes could fail.

CBS Front Brakes Icon

• Clean Caliper cavities
• Change Brake Pads
• Replace Rotors if worn to minimum levels
• Replace Brake Pad Wear Sensor

Brakes are maintained to ensure high performance and constant safety.

CBS Rear Brakes Icon

• Clean Caliper cavities
• Change Brake Pads
• Replace Rotors if worn to minimum levels
• Replace Brake Pad Wear Sensor
• Check condition, Brake lining thickness and function of Handbrake; replace components if necessary

Brakes are maintained to ensure high performance and constant safety.

CBS Spark Plugs Icon

• Replace worn or defective Spark Plugs to ensure optimum performance, fuel economy and reduced emissions

Replacement of Spark Plugs will improve engine performance and avoid any chance of engine misfire.
